Dave Dobbins is an attorney and holds a Master of Public Health degree. He has been involved with tobacco issues since working on the team that defended Jeff Wigand against claims from Brown & Williamson in the late 90s. In 2002, he joined the American Legacy Foundation as in house counsel and in 2007 became the organization’s COO. He was involved with all aspects of the organization and continued serving as COO when the organization changed its name to Truth Initiative in 2015. He left the organization by mutual agreement in August 2022, and has decided to focus his efforts on advancing the cause of tobacco harm reduction. He is inspired by the experience of having many smokers in his family and strongly believes that nicotine users should have ready access to options less harmful than smoking.
